Appointments, Emergencies, Advice & Home Visits

Appointments

In both Yorkley and Bream we operate an appointment system for ALL consultations. You can make an appointment at either surgery.

Please contact the surgery between 9.00 am – 1.00 pm and 2.30 am – 5.00 pm to make an appointment. Some extra early morning and evening doctor’s surgeries will be available for those who find it difficult to attend the surgery during the day – please ask the receptionist for further details.

If for any reason you are unable to attend for an appointment, please notify the surgery giving as much notice as possible so that the appointment can be offered to somebody else and not wasted.

Emergency surgeries are held twice daily for urgent problems that cannot wait until the next available routine appointment. The doctor is able to spend more time with you in a routine appointment so please telephone the surgery to ask if there are any available before asking the time and place of the emergency surgery. Urgent emergency consultations are held at 11.00am and 5.15pm each day on a first come / first seen basis for medical emergencies that cannot wait until the next routine appointment. Some book-on-the day emergency appointments are also available on Mondays for patients that need to be seen urgently.

If you would like to register for Online Services to enable you to make appointments via our website to see a doctor, for a blood test or to order repeat prescriptions, please call in to reception with proof of your identity.

If you are a new patient registering with the practice you will be offered a new patient check with the Practice Nurse. We do ask you to attend as this will enable us to gain information about your health and any medication that you may already be taking.

Emergency Calls

8.00 am – 6.30 pm weekdays ring 01594 562 437 Option 1.

When the surgery is closed

When the surgery is closed, the practice is covered by the Out of Hours Service. Please dial 111 in emergency situations.

Home Visits

If you are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery, you may require a home visit. Phone 01594 562 437 Option 1 before 10.00 am. You may be asked for some information about your problem. It is preferable for you to come to the surgery as this helps us as we have better facilities for examination and treatment.

Training

We are a training practice and this means that we may have a GP registrar or a GP returning to NHS work providing additional surgeries. Our practice also provides training for medical students. If a student doctor is in attendance in a surgery, you will be advised by the receptionist and you can request to be seen by your doctor alone.

Research

From time to time the practice may ask patients if they would like to be involved in a particular research project. Any such projects have full ethical approval, and would only involve patients who had given their full consent.
